Arena Editions
From 1997–2003 I was the creative director of Arena Editions, an internationally-known fine art photography book publisher. From the creation of the company’s logo to over 50 illustrated books, seasonal catalogs, print advertisements, trade show booths, and other collateral materials I managed every single visual element that went into Arena’s products and the company’s image; and actually did most of the production work until the last year, as well as oversaw every aspect of the design of the books, and all the other materials including the company’s website. I attended almost every press check and went to every book launch (when I wasn’t on press) as well as every trade show, such as the Frankfurt Book Fair and BookExpo America.
I managed all the production and a team of graphic designers, both in and out of house, and also contributed to running the company in general, working with the CEO managing the staff, formatting system management strategies, marketing, editing, and various other components of running a company.
In 2001 I was recognized by Photo District News as one of the top 12 contributors to the field of photography, and many of our books won AIGA graphic design awards. You can view the PDN article as a PDF here.
You can see a selection of our books in my About me: Video Presentation on the main Portfolio page, which covers, in brief, the years of my working life between 1993 and 2008. There is also a direct link here.
Here is a link to the PDF of our penultimate catalog published online through our website in 2002.
