The Secret Garden
Between 2004 and 2006 I created beeswax encaustic fine art pieces from my photographs of contemporary botanicals. No Photoshop was used in the making of these images! You see them exactly as they were shot. I printed the ‘light-drawings’ on matte paper and mounted them to clay board, then used a heated wax method—several layers—to seal and fuse the pieces.
The body of work was previewed in San Francisco in 2004 and then shown in a gallery in Santa Fe on Canyon Road on Earth Day in 2005. The show received great press (click here for a sample), and that was basically the last of my fine art career. I enjoyed it immensely.
